-look for Real Jobs

-go to a spa for free

-go to Folklife and eat something delicious and spend money I don’t have on shiny things

-go to happy hour

-see two movies

-hang out with my Friend (argh) and fend him off when he asks (nicely!) if I’ve asked for payment from my internship for the millionth time

-I got a new laptop yesterday, and it looks like a regular computer except that the screen is a touchscreen, so sometimes I just like to scroll around for no reason and highlight stuff with my index finger. Also, a touchscreen laptop? The world is full of mystery.

-Saw Star Trek yesterday, and I have some Issues with the alternate timeline, namely re: Captain Pike, the tribble’s presence, and a hilarious reference to Nurse Chapel (that last one isn’t an issue, but I was the only person in the theater who laughed, maybe?). Let’s not even talk about Khan, because I’m pissed about that, and not even Cumberbatch’s upsettingly sexy voice can make me feel better about his presence in that movie. Spent most of the ride home pontificating to my companion about Captain Pike and his presence in the show/movies and it’s just now dawning on me that this is all a little bit much.

-Since I live a life of luxury, I spent most (read: pretty much all) of today reading Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s new book, Americanah, and it was delicious. It may take a little while for more coherent thoughts to come through, but I need to find someone else who has read it so I can see what they thought; many of the newspaper reviews said the same thing, but almost all of them were pretty flawed in their analysis (she said, tossing her hair and looking down her nose at the masses).

-Went for a lovely hike on Saturday to Frenchman Coulee in Eastern Washington; the scenery was lovely, and we saw a zillion lizards!! I have a strange and unabashed love for tiny reptiles, y’all.

-I just scrolled up, proofread this post, and scrolled down on my laptop screen. THE MODERN AGE IS UPON US.

Went to see the Pentatonix last night, immediately after attending a charity auction thing (where they had an auctioneer guy and WOW did he talk fast). Anyway, my date stepped away for like two minutes and WHAM some dude came over to ask if I would consider going out with his friend, standing a few rows ahead of us. I said no, I’m here with someone (also really? does that line work?) and then he goes “well I don’t see anyone here. Is it that guy over there? He’s with a girl, so it can’t be him.”

Dude. Really?

Then after I refused several more times (and after he pointed out several other guys and asked if I was with them like OH MY GOD IS THIS A PRACTICAL JOKE), he patted me on the shoulder and said to go talk to his friend if I changed my mind. I said that would not happen but thanks anyway (because what are you really supposed to say? It was part funny and part insulting). My date, of course, thought this was hilarious.
